Chaim Demarée

Chaim Demarée graduated as a political scientist (VUB, 2002) and broadened his perspective on people and society by focusing on the relationship between ethnic minorities and (local) police forces in underprivileged metropolitan neighbourhoods, police practices, citizens' expectations of the police and the police occupational culture of the rank-and-file. As a result, he developed a lot of practical experience and knowledge of the qualitative methodology: participant observation & ethnography, document analysis, focus groups & interviewing. Most recent scholarly activity highlights the perpetrators of domestic human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation (of minors). In addition, Chaim worked in NGOs and government positions. He works and lives in Brussels.
