Description: This project will for the first time empirically investigate how ageism ismanifested in prison in Belgium. On the basis of emergingmethodological techniques, it will be analysed how key actors inprison perceive, experience and practice ageism. These key actorsare older prisoners, prison officers and members of the psychosocialservice. The research will moreover explore differences between,and within, both actors and prisons on this topic. The research willtheoretically and methodologically contribute to the field of criticalpenological and gerontological studies.
