Olga Petintseva
Biografie
Olga Petintseva is a post-doctoral research fellow (FWO), affiliated to Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Ghent University. Her expertise is located at the intersection of criminology, legal anthropology, migration studies, and socio-linguistics. Her PhD focused on ‘new’ migrants in youth justice, approached through a discursive lens and published as a monograph ‘Youth Justice and Migration. Discursive Harms’ by Palgrave in 2018. Olga’s research interests are directed to how migration has an impact (or acquires meaning) in ‘domestic’ institutions that are not structurally accustomed to diversity (e.g. criminal justice). Her research zeroes in on commonsensical yet discriminatory practices in institutional contexts. Both in her academic and practice-oriented activities, Olga is especially interested in the societal exclusion of Roma and young refugees and is involved in various scholarly networks concerned with qualitative research methods and critical, cultural, and narrative criminology. She is currently the director of the NGO ‘SEER’ (Social Enhancement and Empowering of Roma).
