To better reflect our interdispinlinary approach that builds on the synergy and collaboration among the diverse expertise within our research group, we have identified four research(knowledge) clusters. Each cluster identifies an area of expertise yet intertwined with the others.
RESEARCH LINE 1 (KNOWLEDGE-CLUSTER)
Penality and Society
We study penal practices and cultures in prison and in community sanctions, focusing on the experiences and perceptions of the punished subjects and of the decision makers.
RESEARCH LINE 2 (KNOWLEDGE-CLUSTER)
POLICING AND SURVEILLANCE
We focus on how policing practices and cultures are experienced and percived by different actors, including the implications of new surveillance technologies to monitor public spaces.
RESEARCH LINE 3 (KNOWLEDGE-CLUSTER)
CRIME AND THE CITY
We explore how urban spaces influence crime, its incidence, prevention, control and punishment.
RESEARCH LINE 4 (KNOWLEDGE-CLUSTER)
YOUTH JUSTICE STUDIES
We study judicial and social responses to deviant behavior committed by young people, including their perceived experiences of the juvenile justice system and special protection.
