Donatella Van Biervliet

Donatella Van Biervliet obtained her Master’s degree in Criminology from KU Leuven in 2020, followed by a second Master’s degree in Criminal Justice Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science in 2021. In September 2021, she joined the KU Leuven Institute of Criminology as a member of the academic assistant staff and in November 2022, she was appointed as an FWO PhD Fellow to continue her research on protest management. Her doctoral work focused on the protest management practices of command post operators during real-time protest events. After completing her PhD, Donatella joined the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, where she continues her research on policing and teaches an introductory criminology course, as well as courses on policing and surveillance.
