
Fernanda De Carvalho Lage
Biography
Fernanda Lage is a Research Professor in the Department of Criminology at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Brasília (Brazil). She holds a PhD in Law and Artificial Intelligence from the University of Brasília, and a Master’s degree in Social, Economic, and Cultural Rights. Her research examines surveillance in public assemblies through algorithmic systems and the effects of European regulation on the Global South. She coordinates the Research Group on Law, Artificial Intelligence, and Emerging Technologies (GETEC) and co-coordinates the Laboratory on Information, Technology, Law, and Diversity (LabDiv/UnB), both registered with the Brazilian National Research Council (CNPq). She is a member of the Working Group on Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary at the National Council of Justice of Brazil and currently participates in the Horizon Europe project Gatherings.
