
Julia Visser
Biography
Julia Visser has been working as a PhD candidate at the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology at Leiden University and the Criminology department at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel since September 2024. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences at University College Utrecht, where she also pursued a minor in Criminology at Utrecht University. She continued her studies with a master’s in Forensic Criminology at Leiden University. During her master’s programme, she completed an internship with the Food in Custody Study, where she is now pursuing her doctoral research.
The Food in Custody Study (FIC Study) is being carried out by the Institute of Criminal Law and Criminology in collaboration with the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on behalf of the Dutch Custodial Agency. This research examines inmates’ perceptions of food in Dutch correctional facilities during a transition in the way food is provided
