
Lies Vande Meulebroucke
Biography
Lies Vande Meulebroucke is a PhD candidate in the Department of Criminology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She holds a master’s degree in Criminology from Ghent University (UGent), as well as two postgraduate qualifications: one in Forensic Investigation from the Erasmushogeschool, and another in Forensic Psychiatry and Psychology from the University of Antwerp. Her research interests focus primarily on policing, with particular attention to the digitalisation of police work, the use of emerging technologies within law enforcement, and forensic investigation practices.
Lies is a member of the research consortium for the DIGIPOL project, funded by Belspo, which brings together researchers from the NICC, ULB, and VUB. The project investigates the impact of digitalisation on local police forces in Belgium through methods such as participatory observation and semi-structured interviews. Her doctoral research, based on this project, is being conducted under the supervision of Prof. dr. Sofie De Kimpe and Prof. dr. Lucas Melgaço.
