Stephanie Garaglia

Stephanie is a VUB alumna and holds a Master’s degree in Criminological Sciences. During these studies, she specialized in policing and surveillance as well as youth criminology. Her scientific interests are in line with, for example, surveillance and security technologies, policing, urban/airport contexts and minority groups.

She is currently working as a doctoral researcher on a FWO-project under Prof. Dr. Lucas Melgaço and Prof. Dr. Rosamunde Van Brakel. The aim is to analyze stakeholder discourses surrounding the implementation of smart video surveillance in smart city programmes. From a methodological perspective, Stephanie uses digital methods and critical discourse analysis among other things.
